Energy and the environment, two hot topics that are being treated with increasing urgency: blackouts, cuts in gas supplies, the price of petroleum sky high, electricity costs continuously rising, the greenhouse effect, the hole in the ozone layer, atmospheric pollutionthese subjects are now all daily fare.
Governments are starting to move, albeit slowly, towards implementing incentives aimed at containing national energy consumption and passing legislation on energy certification, being encouraged to do so at least partly by the Kyoto protocol and European Union directives.
Operators in the refrigeration and air-conditioning sectors are looking for solutions that are more energy efficient and can ensure savings in the cost of energy.
This context, together with the competitive pressure deriving from the advanced solutions coming out of Asia, and Japan in particular, is acting as a stimulus for manufacturers to trial and offer more efficient components and appliances, and for designers to pursue the energy optimisation of systems through the coordinated and intelligent management of the devices.
All this is part of the CARELgroup mission.
CAREL has always been a promoter and leader in advanced control systems at both a unit level, as regards the integration of the chain of control (bringing improvements in performance while at the same time reducing consumption), and a system level, with the expansion of communication solutions, wired or wireless, for local and remote supervision and service over IP.
Playing a significant role in this are our recent developments in electronic expansion valves, for both air-conditioning and refrigeration applications, as well as the networked hydronic systems and the advanced research and trials into the integral control of units with variable speed compressors and pumps.
Integrated Solutions & Energy Saving is the message that we have chosen for this years MCE, so as to illustrate the integrated and energy efficient solutions we are offering the Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning markets, for manufacturers, designers, installers, managers of supermarkets and shopping centres, and industry opinion leaders.
In this special issue of CARELnews we have presented a number of solutions and case studies from our three reference sectors - Refrigeration, Air-Conditioning and Humidification - all cutting - edge solutions for integrated control and energy savings.
